2009 Educator's Symposium
Registration Fee: $10 at the door
For three years now, middle school students in Tucson, Arizona have gained valuable math skills and prepared for academic success in high school using what might seem like an unlikely approach – Mariachi music! We've invited Adam Romo, a music director Tucson’s "Math through Mariachi" program to speak about the concept and the implementation of this fascinating program and to explain how some of Tucson's professional mariachis evolved into dynamic and engaging algebra teachers. He’ll be joined by Chris Confer, an expert in math education, discussing how music and math can work hand in hand to help our children succeed.
